Cyber Security is Our Priority

When settling your home loan, payments might need to be made to third-party accounts.

However, fraudsters may attempt to intercept your payments by posing as you or your broker.

If this occurs, recovering your funds can be very difficult.

Here’s how we keep your money safe and what you can do to protect yourself:

How MSA Protects You:

We don’t accept any payment details by phone or email without verification using multi-factor authentication (MFA) and an access code, sent to your phone.
We only use your contact details (mobile number / email address) provided by your lender.
We use the bank account details you provided when you signed your loan documents securely via DocuSign.
Changes to these bank account details can only be done via DocuSign with dual-factor authentication (i.e. access code sent to your mobile number).
We may call you to verify payment details, even on the day of settlement. We may ask you security questions or send you an SMS with an access code.

Protect Yourself:

STOP AND THINK:

Before acting on any request, ask:
  1. Does the request make sense?
  2. Do you recognise the email address?
  3. Does it seem unprofessional?

VERIFY:

Verify any request asking you to make changes to bank account details.
  1. Reach out to a trusted contact to confirm changes, e.g. your solicitor or mortgage broker.
  2. Cross-check their contact details in any suspicious email, by searching online. Do not trust the contact details in the email.

PROCEED WITH CAUTION:

If you cannot verify a request or it seems suspicious, do not action the request. Immediately contact your mortgage broker/solicitor/lender, if you receive any unexpected payment requests.

Always remain vigilant.

For more information or assistance, please contact your broker or MSA directly.
